Writing assessment

The overriding accomplishment of education is that it changes people. They acquire knowledge; they develop skills; they acquire attitudes and values; they achieve understandings, insights, and appreciations. Helping students think and value Jack R. Fraenkel Writing gives us a relief from stress, to some, it is a habit, while to many there are forces to do so. Why writing is so important? Why do we need to express our feelings through the stroke of our hand? Why can we just let it out through the words that we uttered? Claim, inform, entertain and convict maybe these are reasons why we write. Under my literature and essay subjects I am assigning topics to write, any that may invite their interest, anything under the sun. From high school life, love, economy, politics, society and family, they circle around their ideas, and make the most of it. I am doing this for almost 5 years now, I call it Youngonce a compilation of literary arts but under my literature class, it is a mix of essay, short story, poem and any other forms of writing. This is a kind of method that developed the students’ ideas in all facet of life, it is quite an old type of approach but I do believe it is a bold one. Of course at first, there are negative receptions, because of the dullness and awkwardness as the students may treat it, but through my persistence and guidance, we were able to cope-up such formidable. As I assessed the output, I may say that it is quite successful, although there are mistakes on some rules and punctuation, the choices of words, topics that already overshoots, but still, it is a part of the process, draft, edit, polish and publish the four corners of writing where it sits for. Understandably, the technology proliferates, and continues to go beyond, a very positive impact to our society as a whole, but a ditch of drawback that stops our clock, and we must alienate ourselves. We must always go back to the traditional type of approach, proven tested, although excruciating, but for somehow a life changing to all of us.
